I just finished reading By Love Reclaimed, Jean Harlow Returns to Clear Her Husband’s Name by Adrian Finkelstein, MD, & Valerie Franich, MEd. It clears up the mysterious death of MGM executive Paul Bern in 1932. It’s well worth the read. I found the last chapter very inspiring. I’ve never been interested in Jean Harlow, MGM, or Hollywood in the 1930s, but I felt compelled to read this book and found it hard to put down. In it, there’s a quote from an unknown source: “There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good.”

That quote really hit home. I’ve become a semi-recluse, yet I don’t feel at all reclusive. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, because I don’t have time for drama unless it’s someone I might help or in the novel I’ve written and am now editing (5 Flowers). I spend a lot of time practicing harp, because it’s beautiful, and because never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I’d be fortunate enough to own one. I’m very fortunate, so I’m not wasting what time I may have left, because I have a lot to learn on the harp.

I wish all young people could realize the wisdom in that quote. I wish all the people who think they have to be upset about something all the time, as well as people who enjoy upsetting others, could discover it. Everyone’s on their own path. I’m so glad the essence of it crossed my path when it did in the form of a harp, yoga, pets, and flowers. My sister found it in the practice of bonsai and Tai Chi. I wish everyone an early encounter with and recognition and understanding of their own form of peace.
